1947 – 1950

Dennis was born September 25, 1947. He was the second child for Charles and Imogene. The first child, born 2 years earlier, died shortly after birth. He was named Dennis Wayne Chester.
When it came time to name their second child, Charles and Imogene decided to go with “Dennis” again. When Dennis’ younger brother came along 18 months later, he also got part of his name from the first boy. Curtis Wayne Chester was born on July 13, 1949.
During the early years, Charles and his brothers Rodrick and Jack each had a service station on 3 opposing corners in  Buellton, California.

After the loss of their first baby, Charles, Imogene and grandparents Roy and Juanita Jenkins, George Chester and Clifford Dunlap cherished those early years with Dennis. He was the object of many photographs in those days.
